January 19, 2018 Tucson Park/Bowen Loop

All of the hikers did the Bowen House loop from the Starr Pass Trailhead at the end of Starr Pass Blvd. 

5 hikers did the short loop of 4.9 miles, rated C-. 

21 hikers did a longer loop through Hidden Valley, 5.6 miles, rated C+ and 

8 hikers did the even longer hike that included the top of Surprise Mt., 8.8 mi. rated B-.

Directions: Take I-10 south and in approx.. 66 miles take Exit 259,

Starr Pass Blvd. Turn right on Starr Pass Blvd.. In 5 mi. arrive at
the J.W. Marriott Starr Pass Resort, parking on side of Starr Pass Blvd.
Trailhead is at end of Starr Pass Blvd. Total distance from Palm Creek is
71.3 miles.

Janurary 12, 2018 - Romero Pools - Catalina State Park

 All of the hikers took the Romero Pools trail, then the three groups each hiked for different distances along the trail. Eight hikers went 5.64 miles then returned to the trailhead. 20 hiked 6.3 mi. to the Romero Pools, and 5 went beyond Romero Pools for a total round trip distance of 9.8 mi.

Romero Canyon Trail to Romero Pools

Directions: 

Take I-10 South and take Exit 240. Turn left (east) on Tangerine Road. In 13.5 miles turn right onto Oracle Road, then in 0.2 miles turn left into Catalina State Park. At a guard shack purchase a car pass for $6.00 or $7.00. Proceed to the parking lot. (61 miles to trailhead).
