March 16, 17 and 18th Next Hike - Chiricahua Weekend, Willcox

Cochise Trail & Chiricahua National Monument

Here are the plans for this weekend. As per usual we will leave from the parking lot at 8:00AM sharp.


Driving Directions:  
Palm Creek To Cochise Stronghold Campsite For Friday’s Hike
Go east on I-10 through Tucson to exit 318 (approx. 129 miles). Turn right onto E. Dragoon Road 10.8 miles to N. Cochise Stronghold Road, turn right. Go 6 miles and then turn right onto W. Ironwood Road. Continue to Cochise Stronghold Campsite & Trailhead, 4.5 miles.



Cochise Stronghold To Willcox & Quaility Inn, 1100 W.Rex Allen Drive
Head west to W. Ironwood Road, turn right. In 4.5 miles turn left onto N. Cochise
Stronghold Road, turn right onto W. Dragoon Road in 6 miles. In 2 miles turn left
onto US-191, and in 11 miles enter I-10 eastbound for Willcox. Take exit 340,
turn right onto W. RexAllen Drive to hotel on right in .1 mile.


Quality Inn To Chiricahua National Monument
Head East to N. Haskell Ave. (.8 miles) and turn right. In .7 miles turn left onto
E. Maley St. in 31.4 miles turn left onto E. Bonita Canyon Rd. destination is on
your right in 5.6 miles.
Saturday’s Hike


Saturday’s hikes will consist of various combinations of the Echo Canyon Loop,
Echo Canyon to Visitor Centre, Inspiration Point, Heart of Rocks, and The Sarah
Deming Trail.

 4.2 mi. down from Echo Canyon to the Visitor Center, or
 7.3 mi. for Heart of Rocks loop to Visitor Center, or
 8.3 mi. if Inspiration Point is included, or
 10.2 mi. via Echo Canyon Grotto, or

 11.2 mi. if Inspiration Point is included.

Note: Hikers are encouraged to hike together, socialize, and enjoy the fresh air and exercise, stopping as necessary to rest.

To assure all hikers are accounted for, drivers will make sure that all the same hikers they take return with them.
